Overview
This two day introductory wedding floral design course has been compiled with the beginner in mind (no previous experience needed).
Event/Wedding floristry comes with it’s own set of rules depending on the type of event, venue size and layout, flowers available, colour scheme, look and feel the client is after, size and shape of tables, etc.
You will gain a greater understanding of the industry, flowers, tools and floral design mechanics, design methodologies, how to keep your flowers fresher longer, how to purchase your flowers, recommended industry suppliers, etc, etc, etc.
Besides the thorough theory we will be covering, you will also get to work with some premium flowers and get practical hands-on experience creating a centerpiece flower arrangement, table styling tips, bridal bouquet, modern grooms buttonhole, shoulder corsage and wrist corsage.
Hello, I am Tangerine, the founder of Floral Training. I am a passionate floral designer & educator and I will personally lead this two day course. I will be with you and guiding you every step of the way.
This course will be small, I am only taking a maximum of 6 attendees for this #floraltrainingclassof2024

Day 1

- Industry overview: Suppliers, wholesalers, flower farms & how everything fits together
- How to start out & the basic equipment you will need
- What are the main flower types you should be working with and how to compile flower recipes and do stem-count for events
- How to combine colours in floral design
- How to use floristry products correctly to keep your flowers fresher for longer
- Tools & equipment that are essential and how to use these correctly
- The types of events that you can start doing immediately with the skills you learn on this day
- A peek into sustainable floristry and how you can apply it in your flower arranging
- Centrepiece design rules, guidelines & principles
- You will make & take home with you, your own centrepiece flower arrangement – Value R 750
- All flowers & supplies will be provided to complete the practical
- You also take home a beautiful starter training manual – Value R 1000
- Each attendee will also receive a floristry gift – Value R 500

Day 2

- On day 2 we move into a more advanced/intermediate level with learning how to create Bridal Party Flowers
- Trend overview: What is trending & how you can set yourself apart from other florsits
- What are the main flower types you should be working with for Bridal Party Flowers
- How to combine colours in Bridal Party floral design
- How to consult with your bridal couple
- The essential floristry products when working with Bridal Party Flowers
- Overview on the various different bridal bouquet shapes and how to achieve these
- An in-depth look into the various mechanics for wearables
- All flowers & supplies will be provided to complete the practical design work
- Printed course notes
- You will make & take home with you the following designs:
- Bridal bouquet
- Groom buttonhole / pocket square
- Shoulder corsage
- Floral wrist corsage on a pearl bracelet
- Refreshments, snack and lunch is included
